Le Straight Edge, un mouvement culturel et politique né de la scène punk hardcore à la fin des années 1970, qui prône un mode de vie sans drogues, sans alcool et souvent sans consommation de produits d’origine animale, avec parfois un engagement contre le consumérisme et les comportements oppressifs. Dans une société où la consommation (d’alcool, de drogues, de divertissement, de sexualité marchandisée, etc.) est présentée comme un moyen de liberté ou de plaisir, le sXe propose une rupture radicale : reprendre le contrôle de soi, refuser l’abrutissement et la dépendance imposée par le système. Il devient un acte politique. En s’opposant à la marchandisation des corps et des esprits, le Straight Edge cherche à rompre avec les mécanismes d’aliénation qui transforment les individu.es en simples consommateurices.
